Too bad our political candidates don't take the time to consider some of these issues. They also have an interesting post on molten salt reactors, a very promising advance that drastically improves nuclear efficiency and waste. I think pebble bed reactors are the next nuclear technology we will see in the US, though. This is because the research is much further along and more widespread, with many prototype plants built in various countries, and actively producing plants starting construction next year in China. The US had better get on board or we will get left behind. Meanwhile, the molten salt reactors are so efficient that no ones wants to invest in them because they can't figure out how they will make money on them like regular nuclear reactors that require constant refueling and servicing.
